Shotover Country Park

Set in nearly 300 acres, this country park offers woodland valleys, hilltop grassland and scenic landscapes with rich and varied wildlife. 3 way-marked trails range in length, the longest lasting 2 hours. A 15 mile drive from the Blue Boar.

 
 

Woodstock and Blenheim Park

A 6.5 mile circular walk starting in the historic town of Woodstock, passing over the River Glyme, through Old Woodstock and into the grounds of Blenheim Park. Take in the beautiful views of the lake, Grand Bridge and the Palace in the background. The route passes by ‘Harry Potter Tree’, a 300 year old Cedar of Labanon tree, which sits alone by the lake where part of the ‘Order of the Phoenix’ was filmed. Burford

A 6 mile circular walk beginning in the pretty medieval town of Burford. The route follows paths alongside the River Windrush then moves into fields and water meadows and a tree-fringed valley. An 8 mile drive from the Blue Boar.

 
 

Farmoor Reservoir

This 4 mile circular walk starts at the reservoir and travels along the River Thames. Boardwalks guide through pretty woodland and under giant willow trees before re-joining the reservoir for the final part of the route.  The area boasts a wide variety of wetland habitats and several small nature reserves.

 
 

Minster Lovell and Crawley Circular

This 3.5 mile circular walk begins in the pretty Oxfordshire village of Minster Lovell. Starting along the street lined with thatched stone cottages, the route crosses farmland and follows an ancient lane to reach the nearby village of Crawley. The return journey runs alongside a stretch of the River Windrush with the chance to explore the ruins of Minster Lovell Hall. A 3 mile drive from The Blue Boar.
